چکیده

Background: Brain death is defined as an irreversible cessation of all brain activity. Ancillary tests are objective way to support initial diagnosis death. Computed tomography angiography (CTA) imaging modality utilized ancillary mean assist clinicians with such diagnosis. Different criteria and scoring systems have been proposed, however clear yet be recognized demonstrate full circulatory arrest. We aim discuss different presented in the literature make evidence-based recommendations. Methods: A search using titles key terms was conducted for articles containing testing diagnosis, CTA primary focus. Results: has benefits being non-invasive, fast, readily widely available it especially useful unstable patients. It essential, however, confirm intravascular injection contrast by checking opacification External Carotid Artery branches on prevent false diagnoses. Conclusions: When faced challenging decision declare a patient, radiologists often face great apprehension concern large responsibility bestowed upon them. critical radiologist understand that final based clinical criteria.

Computed tomography (CT) angiography for confirmation of the clinical diagnosis of brain death.

BACKGROUND The diagnosis of death using neurological criteria (brain death) has profound social, legal and ethical implications. The diagnosis can be made using standard clinical tests examining for brain function, but in some patient populations and in some countries additional tests may be required. Computed tomography (CT) angiography, which is currently in wide clinical use, has been identi...

CT angiography for brain death diagnosis.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Lack of cerebral circulation is an important confirmatory test for brain death (BD). Conventional angiography remains the standard imaging method, but CT angiography (CTA) is emerging as an alternative. France accepts BD diagnoses relying on a score based on lack of opacification of 7 intracerebral vessels in CTA images. The purpose of this study was to validate the effic...

Computed tomography angiography (CTA) to prove circulatory arrest for the diagnosis of brain death in the context of organ transplantation.

QUESTION UNDER STUDY For the determination of brain death (BD) in potential organ donors, confirmatory tests that show cessation of cerebral circulation are used in many countries. Conventional angiography is considered the golden standard among these ancillary examinations. In recent years other angiographic techniques such as CT angiography (CTA) have been increasingly employed to establish t...

Brain Computed Tomography Angiography as an Ancillary Test in the Confirmation of Brain Death

Introduction Brain death (BD) is the irreversible termination of the functioning of the brain. The diagnosis should be first made by clinical criteria and confirmed by using paraclinical confirmatory techniques (ancillary tests). While conventional brain angiography remains the standard method of choice, computed tomography angiography (CTA) has emerged as an alternative method. In this study, ...

Can coronary computed tomography angiography replace invasive angiography? Coronary computed tomography angiography cannot replace invasive angiography.

O ne million patients undergo invasive coronary angiogra-phy (CA) in the United States every year. 1 In view of its invasive nature and related costs, noninvasive imaging of coronary imaging has the theoretical appeal to improve comfort for patients, reduce cost, and refine patient selection to limit invasive procedures to patients requiring treatment for ischemic coronary artery disease (CAD)....
